The Pharmacy Services Programme was established to educate the support personnel required by the pharmacy and pharmaceutical sectors in a fully scientific environment and to develop professionals who have acquired the necessary occupational skills and qualifications. By requiring multidisciplinary study, the programme aims to contribute to the provision of high-quality healthcare services to society.
The aim of the programme is to educate trained support personnel in the healthcare field who possess the knowledge and qualifications required to provide higher-quality healthcare services to society. The programme covers the theoretical and practical acquisition of professional knowledge; the use of current information and technologies; the implementation of healthcare procedures for prescription and non-prescription medicines; the maintenance of required records; familiarity with current systems; the adoption of a rational approach to medicine use; and the use of the information and communication technologies required to perform al these duties.
To graduate from this programme with the required knowledge and qualifications, students must complete the prescribed internship periods. For this purpose, our University offers internship opportunities in pharmacies, pharmaceutical warehouses and hospitals. Graduates may work as trained support personnel in pharmacies, public and private hospitals, pharmaceutical warehouses, the medical sector, the pharmaceutical industry and various related workplaces. Through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) administered by ÖSYM, graduates may also become eligible to continue their education in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry programmes and complete a bachelor’s degree.
The courses offered during the first semester of the Pharmacy Services Programme within the Vocational School primarily establish a foundation in the health sciences. From the second semester onward, students take theoretical and practical field-specific courses. These courses include pharmacology and pharmaceutical dosage forms, particularly in relation to medicines available in pharmacies, as well as courses on non-pharmaceutical products such as medical and herbal products. Students complete field practice during two semesters, while the summer internship enables them to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experience. The internship is also of considerable importance for entering the sector.
