Programme Objectives

1. To educate qualified first and emergency aid technicians who can deliver rapid, accurate and ethical first-aid interventions in emergencies and possess scientific knowledge and skills in basic and advanced life-support practices.
2. To educate professionals who can adapt to multidisciplinary teamwork in healthcare, communicate effectively, and remain committed to patient safety and professional ethical principles.
3. To educate graduates who can manage problems encountered in emergency healthcare through analytical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills and who use technology effectively.
4. To educate individuals who can adapt to continuously changing healthcare conditions and disasters/emergencies and who embrace lifelong learning and professional development.
5. To educate ethical, responsible and socialy sensitive healthcare professionals who value human life in accordance with national health policies and public-health needs.

3. Demonstrates the ability to make independent decisions and assume responsibility during emergency interventions.
4. Integrates scientific developments into emergency-intervention and patient-management processes.
5. Voluntarily participates in activities aimed at ensuring public safety and raising awareness during emergencies.
6. Participates effectively in teamwork in emergency healthcare services and takes initiative when necessary.
7. Correctly applies the stages of basic and advanced life support.
8. Carries out patient assessment, transport and intervention processes in accordance with scientific principles.
9. Acts in accordance with ethical principles in practices relating to patient and public health.
10. Demonstrates sensitivity to society’s healthcare needs and acts with a strong sense of professional responsibility.

General Information

A first and emergency aid technician is a healthcare professional who has graduated from an associate-degree programme in first and emergency aid; can provide first aid and emergency care to patients or injured persons requiring urgent assistance; perform rescue procedures and basic and advanced life-support practices; ensure that patients reach healthcare centres; and take responsibility for the use and readiness of al materials required for these duties.

 

Career Opportunities

Students who complete al professional practices and internships in the programme graduate with the title of Healthcare Technician and may work in pre-hospital emergency-care services and al emergency departments.

 

About the Courses

During the First and Emergency Aid Programme, students receive education in emergency assistance and rescue operations, ambulance training, emergency healthcare services, emergency patient care, ECG interpretation, bleeding control, intravenous access and certain basic medication applications. In addition to core courses such as Anatomy and Pharmacology, they are also trained in rescue procedures, equipment use and behavioural sciences.
