The duties of anesthesia technicians include assisting the authorised anesthesiologist during anesthesia procedures in the healthcare sector, taking part in patient preparation, and remaining close to the patient in the operating room throughout the procedure. The Anesthesia Programme aims to educate graduates who have a thorough understanding of the patient, the illness, the medications to be used and the conditions of the environment in which they work. Our graduates serve as alied healthcare personnel within the anesthesia team. The curriculum aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills required for these responsibilities. It is important to educate technicians who can prepare patients before surgery, support the anesthesiologist during surgery, and undertake patient monitoring and supervision after surgery. In addition to advanced anesthesia machines and various anesthesia techniques, students receive instruction in sterilisation and emergency patient care.
Students graduate with the title of Anesthesia Technician after completing al professional practices and internships included in the programme. A significant proportion of anesthesia-technician graduates have been appointed to positions opened by the Ministry of Health in recent years. In addition to public institutions, private hospitals, outpatient clinics, laboratories, medical centres, dispensaries, primary healthcare centres, community health centres and family medicine practices offer substantial employment opportunities for programme graduates.
During the first semester of the Anesthesia Programme, students take basic theoretical courses such as Physiology, Anesthesiology I, and Principles and Methods of Sterilisation. During the remaining three semesters, courses such as Anesthesia Devices and Equipment, Infectious Diseases, Pathology and Special Anesthesia Techniques are offered. In the second year, students are also given the opportunity to complete an internship alongside the Applied Anesthesia and Reanimation course. Within this scope, the latest national and international innovations and developments are examined, and students reinforce their fundamental knowledge through examples. In addition to theoretical courses in these areas, emphasis is placed on practical education and internships are encouraged.
